Quarterly capital expenditure roughly doubled from a year earlier to $44.9 billion, and the company raised its full-year capex guidance to as much as $205 billion from a prior range of $180 billion to $190 billion. Why it matters for listed companies
Alphabet's capex guidance of up to $205 billion for 2026 is money paid largely to chip, server, networking and construction suppliers, and the $44.9 billion spent in one quarter was enough to turn free cash flow to negative $5.9 billion. On the earning side, Google Cloud's $24.8 billion of quarterly revenue and $514 billion backlog show enterprise customers committing to multi-year AI and cloud contracts, in direct competition with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
