Data and AI software company Databricks closed a $5 billion funding round at a $190 billion valuation, its second raise of 2026. Coatue led the round, joined by Blackstone, MGX, T. Rowe Price and new investor Sixth Street Growth. The company said its revenue run-rate has passed $7 billion, up more than 80% year on year in the second quarter, compared with 65% growth at a $5.4 billion run-rate in February, when it was valued at $134 billion.
Why it matters for listed companies
The round prices privately held Databricks at $190 billion, about 27 times its $7 billion revenue run-rate and 42% above the $134 billion set in February. The $5 billion comes from investors including Coatue, Blackstone and MGX. Databricks competes with listed Snowflake and with the data platforms of Microsoft, Amazon and Google for enterprise AI workloads, so its valuation and 80%-plus growth rate are reference points for that group.

The finance angle is the contracted revenue: about $36 billion over the initial terms of the leases, paid by the AI cloud companies and hyperscalers that rent the capacity. That backlog is many times current revenue…
