In the last session, yesterday, the Nifty 50 closed at 22,623, down 0.4 percent, the Nifty Bank closed at 55,316, down 0.3 percent and the Nifty Midcap 150 closed at 21,820, down 0.0 percent. On NSE, 1,653 stocks rose and 1,241 fell.

Foreign portfolio investors sold a net 1,857 crore rupees and domestic institutions bought a net 2,670 crore rupees in the cash market, by provisional exchange data.

Among stocks that traded at least five crore rupees, the biggest gainers were Sejal Glass, up 20.0 percent, German Green Steel and Power, up 20.0 percent and MV Electrosystems, up 17.2 percent; the biggest fallers were AceVector, down 5.3 percent, Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers, down 5.2 percent and Caliber Mining and Logistics, down 5.2 percent.

On the IPO calendar — opening for bids: Bonfiglioli Transmissions, Sahajanand Medical Technologies, Tonbo Imaging India and Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses; closing today: HD Fire Protect, Ravita Engineering Services and Vaibhav Vyapaar.
