Stock Splits

3 tracked · updated 19 Sept 2026, 1:29 am IST

A split reduces the face value of each share and increases the count proportionately. Like a bonus, it changes the unit and not the value; it is usually done to bring a high share price into a range more people trade in.

Questions

Is a split the same as a bonus?

They have the same effect on price per share, but a split changes the face value and a bonus does not. Both leave the value of a holding unchanged.
