Centrum Broking data shows the all-India average cement trade price rose Rs 7 to Rs 356 per bag in September. South India rose Rs 11, West India Rs 9, and Central, East and North India Rs 5 each. The Q2FY27 average was Rs 351, down Rs 1 from the previous quarter. Companies are attempting hikes of Rs 5-20 a bag in most markets in October. Centrum said fuel prices have risen sharply in recent weeks and that sustaining hikes depends on demand and dealer acceptance.
Why it matters for listed companies
Power and fuel, including petcoke, coal and diesel for freight, are among the largest cost items for listed cement makers. Their margins depend on whether price increases keep pace with those costs. September-quarter average prices were roughly flat sequentially, so the recent hikes have not yet shown up in quarterly realisations. Builders and infrastructure contractors are on the other side of the trade as buyers.
