In the last session, on Friday, the Nifty 50 closed at 22,520, up 1.3 percent, the Nifty Bank closed at 55,257, up 1.4 percent and the Nifty Midcap 150 closed at 21,603, up 1.4 percent. On NSE, 1,766 stocks rose and 1,123 fell.

Foreign portfolio investors sold a net 3,569 crore rupees and domestic institutions bought a net 4,743 crore rupees in the cash market, by provisional exchange data.

Among stocks that traded at least five crore rupees, the biggest gainers were BMW Ventures, up 16.6 percent, R Systems International, up 13.0 percent and Inox Green Energy Services, up 12.0 percent; the biggest fallers were Indokem, down 10.6 percent, Sundrop Brands, down 8.3 percent and Healthcare Global Enterprises, down 7.8 percent.
